River Bocq water supply

Event

Categories: Industry

The Bocq is a small river in the Ardennes, flowing into the Meuse, with its source about 70 kilometres from Brussels centre. A technically ingenious project to divert some of the waters from the Bocq to increase the Brussels water supply began supplying the communes in the 1890s. This work was done by the Société Intercomunale des Eaux, now CIBE, one of Belgium's leading water companies, founded in 1891.
