The Water Carrier The Water Carrier

Sculpture: The Water Carrier

Installed in 1901. Pollution-damaged, the statue was replaced with a copy on 7 May 1994. The original is now inside the Town Hall. There is a plaque on the roundabout at the foot of the fountain. The text is so small that it can't be read, even with a powerful zoom. We risked our lives crossing to the centre of the roundabout, only to discover the name of the company and the burgomaster responsible for the restoration. No, we're not telling - you want to know, you go read it.
