Plaque: Benoit Rolliers
To Benoit Rolliers, Major in the Belgian Army. Born at Saint-Nicolas in 1798. Died in this house 10 December 1877. On 2 February 1831, Rolliers, then sub-lieutenant of the Ghent Fire Brigade, stopped, through his courage and his coolness, an armed conspiracy against the national independence.
