English novel writer.

Charlotte’s first novel, "The Professor" was based on her experiences while in Brussels. She and her sister Emily enrolled at Pensionnat Heger, first to learn French and German, and later to teach English. Here Charlotte experienced the one passion of her life. She fell in love with Constantin Heger, the head of the school. He was also a married man with a large family. Her poem, "At First I Did Attention Give" (external link) , 1845, written about this love, gives no indication that her love was reciprocated.
